You know what? Fall of 2006 was not a bad semester at all. If you'll pardon my shameless indulgence in new agey feel-good cliche, I really grew a lot as both a person and an artist. I came to terms with what I want and need from the people in my life, and made a conscious decision to only surround myself with individuals whose company I enjoy, rather than allowing destructive or lukewarm relationships to persist by means of inertia or some sense of "obligation" on my part. Needless to say, I am a much happier person for it.

As far as art goes, I feel I benefited from three months of stylistic wandering, unburdened by expectations or guidelines. I definitely have a stronger sense of who I am as an artist, of why I paint and how my work relates to my peculiar identity as an human being. I feel really good about going back and getting into my studio.

So ya, prepare to be impressed...I hope.
